Smell:
Subtle smell of sweet creamy berries, almost a dried strawberry smell when I opened the jar; the terps aren’t strong, and I had to get my nose in the jar to smell them. When I smelled the nugs and got them closer to my nose I smelled Li Hing Mui, a dried and preserved plum candy popular in Chinese and Hawaiian food culture.
After breaking it down by hand, and also by grinder, it reminded me of strawberry and cream candies, I think they’re called Creme Savers. For the second bowl, the grinder smelled like an effervescent, strawberry soda, like a Faygo with a lingering smell similar to a bag of strawberry tea.

Look/Breakdown:
Impressive buds that were covered in trichomes that at points are so dense it changes the color of the bud to a grayish/brownish color. The leaves are an Army fatigue green or jungle green (800 crayon Crayola box, anyone?), with a heavy covering of dark orange hairs.
Broken down by hand the trichome covering goes from the tips of the leaves to the stem. The buds themselves have great structure and density.
Very very light purple leaves or parts of leaves on the inside.

Flavor:
Sweet creamy berries, I got a similar flavor from Monkey Berries [Strawberries and Cream x Grease Monkey] from Colorado Harvest Company. It’s a tasty flavor and smoke.
Rolled this in a joint and inhaled before lighting it to get some of the flavors.. The strong sweet strawberry flavor was there and tasted like an old school strawberry popsicle or strawberry soda.
Overall the flavors on this one are great. I’m able to recognize the subtle differences that make it unique and different from Strawberries and Cream. If forced to choose between the two, I would lean toward Red Pop for the stronger strawberry and gas.

How it smokes:
Very smooth smoke, no harshness or coughing. I expected this smoke to be on the smoother side and it didn’t disappoint. It would be great for joints and blunts.

Effects:
Felt it behind my eyes and head more than my body. My eyelids lowered, got a little drier, and were red making this a good cultivar for keeping some Visine around. Cheeks, temples, and sides and top of my head felt tingly. The effects stack quickly and heavier than other sativa leaning hybrids I’ve smoked; my eyelids lowered even more, got drier and redder with bowls 2+. The last cultivar that hit me in the head like this was Apple Fritter from Tranquil Forest.
On Sunday morning I smoked it for a wake and bake, and it was great for adding to this review while binging Adventure Time. My eyelids did lower a little bit, and the body high wasn’t heavy, more of a laidback vibe that allowed me to get comfortable while working on reviews. The focus and ability to get tasks done was nice.
Indica effects were a slight body high, and slower processing of thoughts and surroundings.

Thoughts:
With Exotic Genetix’s recent Red Pop focused seed release, drop of OMFG and Popscotti at the Bakeréé in July, and videos on Instagram of the Red Pop plants during harvest, I’d prioritized smoking Red Pop when it was released. I was tryyyying to find it after it released, saw people posting it on their Instagram pages, and couldn’t find it on my own; thank you Astronaut Labs and One Gram Guy. I reserved 2 8ths of the Red Pop and a quarter of the Popscotti online at Green Theory, but by the time I arrived I was only able to get 1 8th of Red Pop. Yeesh, last one ftw! I added another Popscotti, which was smart because a friend purchased the 8th off of me after smoking it in a sesh.
While the terps were a tad underwhelming in the jar, once ground up it started to smell like strawberry soda, and inhaling the joint before lighting it showed sweet strawberry flavors that impressed me. It doesn’t shine as bright as the OMFG and Popscotti, but on it’s own is a very nice mid day smoke that won’t overwhelm with introspective thoughts, or anything that induces anxiety. Where it really shines is in the crosses like OMFG where the strawberry soda combines with the sweet candy smell of Runtz and creates a cultivar that’s a terp and flavor level above Wowzers.
Red Pop is the parent to a lot of great crosses in this most recent lineup and 100% has stand alone ability and value; Kimbo Kush, Runtz, Biscotti, Falcon 9, Gelato, Wojo Mints, Milk and Cookies, Tropic Truffles, and Grease Monkey. I’m looking out for the Truffletini, Jigglers, and Strawberry Syrup those sound so damn good.
I have been dabbling in more sativa leaning hybrids lately, and this is something that I wouldn’t mind smoking in the afternoon, while working on a project remotely. This isn’t for Zoom or Teams calls due to the eye redness and eyelid lowering, but making my way through monotonous online database work could be helped by a little Red Pop and music.
Watch the dosage it gets more intense and heavier behind the eyes, with more tingling sensation in the temples.

Pairs Well With:
This is perfect for listening to music while you shower. I listened to Nas’s new album and lost about 20 minutes to it.
Listening to music in general
Hanging out with friends, being social, and either playing video or board games and talking shit. Watching my friend play Fall Guys was a lot of fun.
